This image
of myself, Colin, depicts how I would like to be known as when I
graduate from Jackson High School. Me wearing the Jackson Marching
Band uniform symbolizes me having talent, artistic skills,
intelligence, the ability to work well and cooperate as a team, and
much discipline. Me holding the trumpet in front of me symbolizes
musicality, joy, excitement, power, skill, and leadership which are
all things that I would like to be known for having. This picture
was taken with the camera being slightly below the subject which
makes the subject appear to be larger and more powerful than its
surroundings.
To be able
to achieve the goal of gaining this kind of recognition from my peers
will require me to do many things. Always through school and
everyday life I will need to and will continue to gain upon my
education and knowledge of the world. I will take the best school
classes I can and work intelligently every day. I have been working
as a team with many different people and groups throughout my
lifetime and I will need to continue to do so with even more
diversity to gain experience with more people and so that more people
will know me. I have done my best to act as a leader in things that
I do often such as various projects, and events. In GWAPE, when
Griet first goes out into the town for her new job she said that it,
“was so strange to meet so may people and see many new things in
one morning, and to do so apart from all the familiar things that
made up my life” (Chevalier 81/710). This quote shows that Griet
did not get out much when she was younger and therefore didn't know
many people or what to do. Being a leader, you will know lots of
people, been around, and can guide others like Griet who don't know
as much about what they are doing. I will have to take even more
leadership in everything I do to win the title of a leader.
I have
already a lot of musical talent but there is never any point in a
musician's career where they cannot get better. I will keep on
practicing, keep on studying and hopefully people will recognize that
have some respect. In GWAPE, Griet's father, “was always pleased
to hear that a rich man could be a poor musician” (Chevalier
526/710). This quote shows that people really do judge other people
on their musical talents and that sometimes great power and music can
go hand in hand; I want to be known like that. Since I was a small
child I have always had artistic sense and ability and I will try to
transform myself into something great by creating, viewing, and
critiquing various art. Hopefully with all of these different
aspects in mind people can recognize me as a great person with
talent, skills, and leadership that they can trust.
